Mercedes-Benz A-Class previewed, launch on 30th May

Mercedes-Benz has advanced the launch of the A-Class hatch by good 3 months to take the first mover advantage in the premium hatch segment. The German car maker will launch the all new third generation (W176) A-Class in the Indian market on the 30th of this month.

This will be second launch in May after the launch of new Mercedes-Benz GL Class which will hit the Indian roads on 16th May.

Mercedes-Benz will introduce the A-Class in two engine options: A 180 Sport (Petrol) and A 180 CDI (Diesel). Both the engines will be mated to a “7G-DCT” 7-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission with paddle shifts. The diesel burner will offer a 20 kmpl ARAI certified.

In terms of safety the car is loaded with features like seven airbags, ABS, ESP, attention assist, hill start assist, brake assist, acceleration skid control, electric parking brake, tyre pressure loss warning and bi-xenon headlamps with adaptive brake lights.

Dimensionally the A-Class is slightly larger than a compact sedan and measures 4,292 x 1,780 x 1,433 mm (LxWxH).

In terms of pricing Mercedes-Benz will not price it below the 20 lakh mark. The company have already launched a teaser campaign online and have also updated the site with basic details.
