Maruti Suzuki Ignis previewed, all details inside

Maruti Suzuki Ignis launch on 13th January unveiled in Delhi.

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the Ignis urban hatchback or compact crossover in the Indian market. The new model will retail via the premium NEXA dealer network and will be launched on the 13th of January.

India’s largest car maker has unveiled the car at an event in Delhi and was earlier previewed at the 2016 Auto Expo.

The company has already launched a teaser website for the Ignis and will start accepting booking from 1st of January 2017.

The Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be available in petrol and diesel engines. The 1.2 K-Series petrol engine with 85 Ps power and the popular 1.3 DDiS diesel engine in 75 Ps power tune will be available. Transmission option includes a 5 speed manual and Suzuki will also offer AMT option in both the diesel engines.

Unlike the Japanese variant, Maruti Suzuki has completely ruled out the ALLGRIP AWD system for the Indian market.

On the exterior front the company will offer bright color option which are targeted to the younger generations. Features on offer include gloss black 15 inch alloy rims, Projector headlamps with LED DRLs, rear windscreen wiper, black ORVM with integrated lights and a gloss-black painted roof.

On the inside the Ignis will get dual tone interiors with a black dashboard and ivory lower end. The key striking feature is the 7 inch Smartplay touchscreen system which is placed similar to Mercedes-Benz cars. The lower variants get 2-DIN audio system. The infotainment system will come with navigation, smartphone connectivity and Apple CarPlay.

Other features include faux carbon fibre trim, black fabric upholstery, automatic climate control, new steering wheel design with audio and telephone buttons, push button start/stop and exterior-color coordinated interior trims.

On the safety end the car will be available with ABS, EBD and dual airbags standard across all variants. ISOFIX child seat anchoring points will also be made available. The car will feature reverse camera and parking sensors

The Ignis measures 3,700 mm long, 1,660 mm wide and 1595 mm of height and has a wheelbase of 2,438 mm.  The Ignis offers a boot capacity of 260 litres.

The Ignis is expected be produced with 95% localisation and will be priced in the region of Rs. 5.5 to 7.5 lakhs. In terms of competition the Maruti – Suzuki Ignis will take on the Mahindra KUV 100, Ford EcoSport and upcoming Tata Nexon.
