Tata hikes prices of Tiago, base variant left untouched

Tiago hatchback is the best selling Tata car recently, price hiked by Rs. 6000.

Tata Motors has increased priced of the Tiago hatchback in the range of Rs. 6000. The prices of base variant however remains unchanged.

Tiago has been one of the best selling cars from the Tata stable and sold more than 5000 units in the last month accounting for 38% of the total cars sold by the company for July 2016.

The company has received more than 20,000 bookings and about 70% have opted for the petrol variant.

The car is available in 5 variants – XB, XE, XM, XT & XZ with optional variants in XE, XM & XT.

The petrol variant is powered by an 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron engine that produces 85 PS and 114 Nm, while the diesel variant packs a 1.05-litre three-cylinder Revotorq engine with 70 PS and 140 Nm. Both engines are paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The petrol and diesel variants are capable of averaging an ARAI-certified fuel mileage of 23.84 km/L and 27.28 km/L, respectively.

The hatchback competes with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Celerio, WagonR, Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat and Datsun Go.

AMT, Activ and Sports version planned for future

Tata Motors may consider launching an AMT version of the hatch in the future as the demand for automatic cars has seen sharp increase. Tata also plans to launch the Tiago Activ and a more sporty version of the hatch in the future.
