Yamaha is looking to introduce a premium scooter – D’elight, spied in India

Yamaha India might launch a new Classic styled Scooter ‘D’elight’ in the Indian market. The Yamaha ‘Delight’ was spotted at company’s plant and could be bought for either R&D purpose or may actually see a green signal as the company’s fourth product in the scooter segment.

The D’elight will most likely be powered by a 113cc engine which also does duty on the Alpha and Ray scooters. The D’elight with European design could be positioned in the premium segment above the Alpha.

Salient features of the D’elight

  • Classically styled with contemporary design
  • 180mm front disc brake
  • Low seat height and easy footboard access
  • Underseat storage for demi-jet type helmet
  • Retro styled instrument console
  • Chrome embellishments on the front grille and headlight

Expect the D’elight if launched to be priced upwards of Rs. 50,000 and will be a cost effective option to the Vespa series.

Honda, Hero and Vespa are also planning to add more models in the premium range in the next two years. Hero’s is planning to launch a number of scooters in the next two years and their next model has been spied which could be either a 110cc or 125cc scooter.
