Volkswagen launches Ameo, price starts at Rs. 5.14 lakhs

Made in India, Made for India Ameo to start new war in compact sedan segment

German car maker, Volkswagen has announced the price of Ameo compact sedan for the Indian market. The made-in-India and made-for-India Ameo is priced at Rs. 5.14 lakhs ex-showroom Mumbai and Rs. 5.24 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi.

The pricing is very aggressive and undercuts the Polo Hatchback which is priced at Rs. 5.45 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi. The car is available in 3 trims Trendline, Comfortline and Highline.

The Ameo is currently launched in petrol version only and diesel engine option will be introduced later. The Ameo offers many segment first features like cruise control, rain sensing wipers, centre arm rest, anti-pinch power windows and static cornering lights. All variants will come equipped with dual front airbags and ABS as standard.

The Ameo petrol is powered by a 1198cc 3 cyclinder MPI petrol engine which produces max power of 75 Ps (55 kW) @ 5400 rpm and max torque of 110 Nm @ 3750 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5 speed gear box. The ARAI fuel efficiency stands at 17.83 kmpl. There is no automatic option available.

Dimensionally the Ameo is 3995mm in long, 1682mm wide, 1483mm high and had a wheelbase of 2470mm. The Ameo has a boot capacity of 330 litres and fuel tank of 45 litres.

The car will be available across all Volkswagen showrooms starting July 2016. Customers can also pre-book the Ameo through the mobile application available on the Google PlayStore.
