Toyota introduces biggest changes to Etios & Etios Liva, ABS & EBD now standard

The New Platinum Etios

Toyota Platinum Etios and refreshed Etios Liva gets major styling updates with more safety on board.

Japanese automaker Toyota has introduced the refreshed Etios series in the Indian market and this time the cars get major updates as compared to the past. The Etios series –Hatch & sedan have received major updates on the outside and inside and this could one of the last updates to the Etios series.

The Etios sedan is re-launched as Etios Platinum while there is no name change to the Etios Liva.

Toyota Etios made its world debut in India in 2010 as “World first India first”. The car was shaped to meet unique requirements of Indian customer, essentially the need for of larger cabin and luggage space, high fuel economy and lowest ownership cost.

The parameters were right but due to old and out dated styling the car did not sell in large numbers. Initially there were many quality issues and every year Toyota improved the quality and reliability. The company introduced several changes over the years and the latest outcome is from the feedback the company has received over the years.

The Etios Platinum and Etios Liva get styling updates which include – All new Front and Rear Bumpers, new Front Grille, new Fog Lamp Bezel, grey Alloys (For Liva) and Rear Chrome garnish with Reflectors for Etios sedan only.

On the inside the cars get new seat fabric-Ivory and Dual Tone Instrument Panel – Black & Ivory. A big improvement in the new Optitron Combimeter which definitely helps to improve the interiors. There is no change to the dashboard design.

The Etios comes with a foldable rear arm rest with best-in-class cabin space while both the sedan and hatch come with foldable rear seats.

On the safety front the cars come with first in the industry standard ABS with EBD across all models and in all grades. Toyota has also offered dual ISOFIX child seat locks for all models & all grades, 3 point  ELR (Emergency Locking Retractor ) Seatbelts and Pre Tensioner and Force Limiter (PTFL) for front seats.

The cars will also get dual front airbags as standard.

There are no mechanical changes and will continue to be powered by the same engines.

The Platinum Etios sedan is priced in the range of Rs. 643,000 to Rs. 774,000 for Petrol & Rs. 756000 to Rs. 887,000 Diesel (Ex showroom Mumbai)

The Etios Liva is competitively priced in the range of Rs. 524000 to 628000 for Petrol & Rs. 661000 to Rs. 744,000  Diesel (Ex showroom Mumbai).
