Tata Tiago sales picking up, Petrol engine receives higher orders

Tata Tiago has received 20,000 plus bookings across India making it a successful after a long span of not so successful launches. Tata Motors which are known primarily as a diesel car maker has received higher bookings, about 70% for the Tiago petrol.

Tata dealerships across the nation have also received 1,00,000 inquiries for the car. There are many reasons for the success. A big marketing push coupled with a product which comes with a long list of features and available with powerful yet fuel efficient engines.

The petrol motor an all-new 1.2-litre three cylinder DOHC aluminium engine develops 85Ps @ 6000 rpm of power and 114 Nm @ 3500 rpm of torque. The diesel engine also an all-new 1.05 litre three cylinder DOHC unit made of aluminium with a cast-iron block generates 70 Ps @ 4000 rpm of power and 140 Nm @ 1800-3000 rpm of torque.

The car is available in 5 variants – XB, XE, XM, XT & XZ with optional variants in XE, XM & XT.

The Tiago has managed to sell about 7500 units since its launch in April.

The Tiago hatch is the first car to be launched under our Made Of Great campaign and the first to embody our new IMAPCT Design language. Tata Motors is betting big on the hatch for the turnaround and will introduce the sedan version Kite 5 in the second half of 2016. Other important products in the pipeline include the Hexa and Nexon SUVs.
