SKODA Rapid Monte Carlo re-introduced as Rapid X Edition

SKODA had to withdraw the Rapid Monte Carlo Edition from the Indian market soon after its launch as the automaker had to face a legal battle for trademark infringement.

The trademark for the ‘Monte Carlo’ nameplate lies with a clothing and apparel manufacturer Monte Carlo from Punjab. The district court issued the ban a few days ago that cites trademark infringement by the automaker.

The Monte Carlo name is used by the automaker to pay homage to the carmaker’s Monte Carlo racing tradition.

The automaker has re-introduced the car with a new nameplate Rapid X Edition.

In terms of features, there are no changes and the car comes with a special incentive where you could buy the car now and pay in 2019 (Please read the offer documents carefully).

Available in two colors White and Red, the car is accentuated by Sporty Black Front Grille, 16” Dual tone Black Alloy wheels, Dynamic Black Roof, black wing mirror housings, Black Tailgate Spoiler and Black Grained Diffuser.

Interiors are inspired by ŠKODA’s motorsport heritage with a New Super Sports Flat Bottom Steering Wheel, New Red and Black Leatherette seats, Black Interior Decor, Ribbed sporty stainless steel Foot Pedals and all black Dashboard. The gearstick knob also comes in black leather with red, decorative stitching.

The car also gets a 6.5 inch, Colour Touchscreen Central Infotainment System with SmartLink™ technology that is compatible with MirrorLink®, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Engine and transmission options remain unchanged. The 1.5 litre TDI produces 110PS (81kW) of power and a torque output of 250 Nm while delivering fuel efficiency of 21.72 kmpl (DSG) and 21.13 kmpl (MT). The 1.6 litre MPI delivers 105 PS (77kW) of power and a peak torque output of 153Nm while delivering fuel efficiency figures of 15.41 kmpl (MT) and 14.84 kmpl (AT).
