Scoop: Suzuki Gixxer 150 caught testing, launch on 27th January

Suzuki Gixxer 150 caught testing

Suzuki seems to have finally stepped on the gas pedal. The Japanese company has been ruling the passenger car market in India for the last 25 years, but has a minimal market share in the two wheeler segment. Come 2014, and this situation will change with Suzuki starting the year with the Inazuma 250 and now we have the big news of the all new sporty 150cc Gixxer naked street motorcycle.

We had just received the tip a day before and before we were going to post the scoop we had first image posted on Xbhp. The new 150cc motorcycle will be positioned above the GS 150R and will be targeted directly against Yamaha FZ 16 which is also going to receive a major technical update.

From the image we can certainly conclude, the Gixxer 150 is going to give the upcoming FZ16 and Pulsar 150 & 180 some serious competition. The bike looks no much different from the Bajaj Pulsar & the Yamaha FZ, but has certain design cues making it stand out. The small exhaust is certainly very different from the rest of 150cc naked street bikes.

Highlights of the Gixxer 150:

  • Rear Monoshock
  • 130 section rear tyre
  • 150cc single cylinder engine borrowed from GS 150R, but will be tuned for higher power & torque
  • 6 speed gear box
  • Digital instrumentation

All details and doubts will be cleared on 27th of January. Stay tuned for more details.
