The GLA is based on the Modular Front-wheel Drive (MFA) platform which also underpins the A-Class, B-Class and CLA-Class. The exteriors exude the new Mercedes-Benz design with hallmark Mercedes-Benz SUV genes such as large wheel arches, raised body which lends a muscular look. Design highlight on the front include – Power domes, bold twin-louver grille painted in high-gloss silver, two massive chrome inserts, Bi-Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, diamond-pattern front grille and roof rails painted in black high gloss.

From the side the GLA follows the design philosophy, with the “dropping line” which emerges at the headlamp and extends to the rear wheel arch. The rear displays a characteristic SUV appeal with rear bumper with black grain trim and under guard in matt silver chrome. The large roof spoiler in bucket tooth design is another attractive feature. The GLA features Bold 18-inch 5-twin spoke light alloy wheels, which are unique in the segment.

The interiors are similar to the A-Class with Five round air vents in the front dashboard and high-quality feel. All trim surfaces feature a silver wave-look, resulting in a metallic finish with a “cool-touch” effect.  The front seats are electrically adjustable with memory function and feature 4-way lumbar support. Upholstery colour options in ARTICO leather are available in beige or black for the Sport version. The panoramic glass provides a bright & welcoming ambience. The rear glass section brings light and even additional head room to the passengers in the rear.
