Mercedes-AMG S63 launched at 2.53 Crores (Ex-Showroom)

Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Sedan launch (1)

The Mercedes-Benz and AMG portfolios in India keep expanding. Recently we got the S63 AMG Coupé and now we have its powerful cousin – the S63 AMG sedan. After nine launches this year, Mercedes-Benz India has launched its 10th car, Mercedes-Benz AMG S63 sedan today in Bengaluru (India).

The new S63 AMG Sedan falls in the middle of S class machines, above S500 and right behind S65 (comes with V12) in its global market.

The S63 AMG is a Teutonic chariot of the gods, mixing sumptuous luxury with earth-shaking power. Huge front air intakes, big wheels, and quad tailpipes hint at the powertrains on tap. The S63 has a 577-hp twin-turbo V-8 peak torque of 900Nm, mated to a seven-speed AMG SpeedShift MCT transmission, zapping from 0km/hr-62km/hr in 3.9 seconds and 0km/hr- 100km/hr in company claimed 4.4 seconds, with a top speed of 250km/hr also with all-wheel drive.

The engine is hand-built, like all AMG power plants delivers peak torque from 2,250 – 3,750 rpm. That’s useful, because, despite aluminum body work and AMG weight-saving tweaks like a lithium-ion battery, the S63 weighs 2,121kilograms. The engine and a fast and precise seven-speed automatic transmission deliver 67% of torque to the rear wheels under normal conditions.

The S63 AMG stickered at INR 2.53Cr. The S63 is 7.9 inches shorter and 2.7 inches less tall than the S500 sedan, with which it shares many systems. Its smooth shape, long nose and short deck recall the new Mercedes-AMG GT sports car. The cabin is awash in leather, carbon fiber, and more leather.
