Maruti Suzuki Compact SUV YBA

Maruti Suzuki is throwing bombs one after the other. The Ciaz, new Alto K10, upcoming S-Cross, new YRA premium hatch and now a new compact SUV.

The Maruti Suzuki Compact SUV codenamed YBA was spied in India which seems production ready. The SUV could be most likely based on the XA Alpha concept showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi.

The Maruti Suzuki Compact SUV will be under four metres and exterior styling is quite muscular from the initial impressions. The EcoSport rivaling SUV from Maruti Suzuki will also have a spare wheel mounted on the rear. The design could be inspired from the new Vitara which was unveiled a few months back. A large front grille, large head lamps, tapering window line and flaring wheel arches give an overall chunky look.

The sporty looking hatch could share it’s under pining’s with the new YRA hatch which was spied completely undisguised.

The Maruti Suzuki Compact SUV  YBA could also share its powertrains with the new YRA which could be powered by either a 1.0 turbo petrol or a new 1.4 K12C motor. Diesel engine option will be the tried and test 1.3 DDiS engine sourced from FIAT.

The launch will happen in 2016 and Maruti Suzuki will use the Auto Expo to launch this new model. Other automakers launching compact SUVs include Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors and Hyundai.
