Mahindra plans a blitzkrieg of products in 2014-15

India’s largest utility major Mahindra & Mahindra, which has moved to the third spot, is working on a new plan to maintain its current position in the Indian market. Mahindra plans to launch at least 7-8 new models which also includes facelifts of some popular models.

In the next 12-18 months, M&M has lined to launch the Scorpio facelift and is currently undergoing its final testing and could certainly expect it to make it at the 2014 Auto Expo. The launch could either happen at the auto expo a few months later.

The XUV5OO sales have settled around the 2500 mark and to further boot sales the company is planning to update and is code name W207. The XUV5OO will hit the market in 2015 and may also receive mechanical updates

The S101 compact SUV is also on the cards and could be launched in 2014. The compact SUV has been caught several times in the Indian market and will be Mahindra’s answer to Ford EcoSport.

We expect Mahindra to also launch the following models:

  • Bolero with an extensive update
  • Verito & Vibe facelift
  • Quanto with a new engine and seating options
  • More variants of the Reva e2O

In the commercial vehicle segment, Mahindra will launch the new Maxximo pick-up truck (P405) and Maxximo Van (P409). The new Maxximo variants are likely to hit the market in the second half of 2014. The Gio will be replaced by a new 0.5 tonne mini truck code named P601 to take on the likes of Ace Zip and Piaggio Mini Ape.

2014 is certainly a very exciting year for the Indian auto maker as the company plans to launch a new vehicle in every category.
