Hyundai i20 is best-selling premium hatch in India.
Hyundai Motor India, country’s second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter announced that its premium compact hatchback i20 has achieved 1 million units in global sales.
Very few cars in India have crossed the 1 million milestone and the club includes Maruti Alto, Swift, WagonR, Dzire and Santro to name a few in the Indian market.
“Made in India and Made for the world” i20 is the most awarded car in the Indian automobile landscape winning as many as 34 awards since inception. The premium Elite i20 also won the prestigious Indian Car of the year (ICOTY) in 2015.
i20 was launched in India in 2008 with its most acclaimed fluidic sculpture design language. In 2012 the i20 got a facelift and segment first features like DRLs. In 2014 Hyundai Elite i20 was launched which redefined the premium hatchback segment making it one of the best-selling Hyundai models in this the hatch segment. Hyundai introduced the i20 Active in 2015 which came with distinct styling.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been giving the Elite i20 stiff competition but the car has been able to hold onto its position in the top 10 so far.
