Hindustan Motors to launch Ambassador diesel BS4 variant soon

Ambassdor BS4

Hindustan Motors is betting on the Ambassador to revive sales in the Indian market and is happy to announce the compliance of Ambassador 1.5-litre diesel with BS4 emission norms. The Indian car maker has upgraded the diesel engine which now meets the new, OBD II (on board diagnostics) and regulations.

We can expect the launch to happen anytime soon and will open 17 major metros for the sale of the Ambassador diesel which will offer higher power and torque figures. The company will commence production of the Ambassador BS4 at the Uttarpara plant in Hooghly from August 2013.

Hindustan Motors is also working on new variants and a sub four metre Ambassador is slated to be launched by end of the year. The company is planning to launch more vehicles and is forging new tie-ups.

The Ambassador is available in five variants:

  • 1.5 DSZ
  • 1.8 Petrol
  • 1.8 CNG
  • 1.8 LPG
  • 2.0 DSZ

The new engine may give the iconic car the much needed sales boost but Hindustan Motors need to re-invent the Ambassador brand and it’s time for a complete overhaul.
