Force Gurkha to get 2.2 diesel engine with 59 Ps higher power

Indian utility maker Force Motors will soon launch the BS4 version of the Gurkha off-roader. The offroader from Force Motors is the sole competitor to the Mahindra Thar which is very popular and is available in BS4 variant.

With the new BS4 variant, Force Motors will be able to sell the Gurkha SUV in all the cities in India helping to expand the customer base and also target the 4×4 enthusiasts in metro cities.

The BS4 variant Sports utility vehicle (SUV) will get the Mercedes-Benz derived 2.2-litre, four cylinder diesel engine (OM611) currently available on the Force One SUV. The engine produces 141 PS and 321 Nm of torque.

Currently the SUV is powered by a 2.6-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine (OM616) that produces 82 PS and 230 Nm. It is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

With the new engine option the Gurkha will get an power bump of 59 Ps and increase in Torque by 61 Nm, much needed to crawl in tougher terrains. The Gurkha has a ground clearance of 210 mm and features differential locks on both front and rear axles in 4×4 variant.

The Force Motors Gurkha is available in three variants – 2WD soft-top, 4WD soft-top and a 4WD hard-top. It is priced from INR 6.97-9.51 Lakhs (ex-showroom Thane).
