Chevrolet launches Sail sedan & hatchback refresh

General Motors have launched the refreshed Chevrolet SAIL hatchback and sedan in the Indian market. The Sail twins when launched in 2012, expected to push higher volumes for the company but the two models did not meet the customer’s expectation and sales were average.

Chevrolet has now added new features which makes the car more desirable.

The exterior exudes sporty styling with Chevrolet’s signature design cues, which includes a dual-port grille adorned with a golden bowtie, “Hawk wing” style headlamps and “shooting star” style front fog lamps with chrome garnish surrounds enhance the vehicle’s elegance. The enhanced wide-angled jewel-effect tail lamps and wrap-around headlamps complement the rear and chrome strip on the boot-lid accentuates the design.

The Sail is available in six exterior colours: Velvet Red (Sedan only), Super Red (Hatchback only), Switchblade Silver, Summit White, Caviar Black, Linen Beige and Sandrift Grey.

The biggest change is the refreshed interiors with Chevrolet Corvette-inspired dual cockpit design the top end variants are equipped with new leatherette upholstery seats. The new dual-tone dashboard in black and beige, new steering wheel overall enhance the interiors. New chrome surrounds for the AC vent bezel and HVAC control knobs along with silver surrounds for door handles and the gear shifter and blue illumination gives the an overall premium appeal.

The Sail also gets a new 2 – DIN music system with Bluetooth® functionality which supports up to five phone pairings and music streaming.

There are no changes under the hood, and the Sail siblings continue to be powered by a 1.2 l SMARTECH Petrol Engine and 1.3 l SMARTECH turbo-charged diesel engine. The petrol motor develops 83.6 PS of power and 108.5 Nm of torque with a mileage of 18.2 kmpl while the diesel delivers 75 PS power with 190 Nm Torque and a mileage of 22.1 kmpl.

The Sail hatchback is priced between Rs. 4.41 and Rs. 6.81 lakh and the SAIL sedan is priced between Rs 5.19 and Rs 7.64 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Originally introduced in 2012, the SAIL is built on a global passenger car platform that was created especially for India and other fast-growing emerging markets. The platform has crossed the 1 million sales figure in July 2014.
