Chevrolet launches Cruze with Gen2 transmissions

Cruze facelift

The D-Segment which has been on a decline seems to have revived in the last few months, first with the launch of the SKODA Octavia, followed by the Jetta facelift and unveiling of the all new 11th generation Toyota Corolla Altis.

With a lot of activity in this segment, Chevrolet has launched the updated Cruze with minor tweaks. The launch comes after a year and half, since the Cruze facelift made its debut in the Indian market. The updated Cruze comes with turn indicators standard on all variants, new bezel design headlamps, slightly refreshed front grille, front & rear bumpers and alloy wheel design. Chrome surround is standard across all trim levels.

The major change is under the hood with an improved Gen2 6 speed manual and automatic gearbox. The new transmission helps attain improved mileage of 14.81 kmpl on the auto and 17.3 kmpl on the manual (mileage as per ARAI).

There are no changes on the inside and the Cruze continues to offer 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, Push button start, cruise control and rain-sensing wipers. The MY2014 Cruze is priced at Rs.13.70 lakhs for the LT (MT), Rs. 15.19 lakhs for the LTZ (MT) and Rs. 16.19 lakhs for LTZ (AT).

The car was launched in India in 2009 and has been a good performer in this segment. In 2015, the Cruze will receive a complete model change and we could expect the car to hit the Indian shores by end of 2015 or early 2016.

Chevrolet has a large portfolio of cars but has not been able to create a dent in the Indian market.
