BMW to launch all new 1-Series on 3rd September

DYNAMIC1 say BMW which is all set to launch the all-new 1-Series in the Indian market on the 3rd of September. The new 1-Series will go head on against the all new Mercedes A-Class and Volvo V40 Cross. The 1-Series is a rear wheel drive unlike its competitors which are front wheel drive.

Based on the 3-Series platform, the 1-Series will be the smallest offering from BMW in India.

The BMW 1-Series will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol 1-Series will be badged as 116i and derive its power from a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine producing 136bhp and 220Nm of torque. The diesel 118d will be offered with a 2.0-liter four cylinder also found on the X1 and 3-Series, but will be produce a lower output of 143bhp and 320Nm. Both the engines are coupled to 8 speed Automatic transmission.

An important question most Indians ask during a purchase of a car: Kitna deti hai? Well BMW has tuned the engine to deliver a decent mileage of 20.06kmpl from the diesel while the petrol engine will deliver 16.28kmpl.

On the pricing front we could expect the car to be priced in the range of Rs. 20-25 lakhs. To keep costs low, the company will assemble the car at the Chennai plant alongside the 3, 5, 7, X1, X3 and MINI Countryman.

BMW has launched an aggressive pre-launch marketing campaign in India and has also roped in Sachin Tendulkar to add more buzz.
